Devon, UK – December 2024 – In a significant move within the sustainable manufacturing sector, a group of investors led by Steve Lees has acquired The Plastic Company from its parent company, The Play Company International Ltd. The acquisition marks a new chapter for The Plastic Company, a Devon-based business renowned for its eco-friendly outdoor furniture and landscaping materials.
Founded in early 2016 by Adrian Myatt, his son Elliott, and Guy Heynes, The Plastic Company has made a notable impact in the industry by utilising recycled materials such as plastic bottles and mixed recyclables. The company has achieved substantial growth and success, thanks in large part to the expansion of its parent company, The Play Company. As The Play Company continues to thrive, the decision was made to sell The Plastic Company to focus on its core business operations.
Steve Lees, who is leading the newly formed Plastic Company, expressed his excitement about the acquisition: “We are delighted to take the helm of The Plastic Company and build upon its impressive foundation. Our team is dedicated to advancing the company’s mission of sustainability and innovation. We look forward to expanding its reach and continuing to deliver high-quality, environmentally responsible products to a diverse clientele.”

The Plastic Company is widely recognised for its range of outdoor furniture and landscaping solutions, serving a variety of sectors including local authorities, holiday
parks, garden centres, construction companies, and pub chains. With this acquisition, the company is relocating to a new solar powered facility at Redlake Trading Estate, conveniently located near the A38 Devon Expressway on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. This strategic move will enhance its operational capabilities and customer service for its clients.
Elliott Myatt, CEO of The Play Company International, reflected on the transition: “The sale of The Plastic Company comes as part of our broader strategy to focus on the continued success of The Play Company. We are confident that Steve and his team will bring fresh perspectives and energy to The Plastic Company, ensuring its ongoing growth and success. We look forward to seeing the company thrive under new leadership.”
